Not done. Not even close.

Still Grafting exists for one reason: to keep tradespeople earning on the tools for as long as they choose to, not as long as their knees allow.

The problem nobody was talking to

Muscle, joint and back problems are the leading cause of lost working days in UK construction. For an employee, that’s a sick note. For the self-employed, it’s a hole in the month’s income, and there are hundreds of thousands of self-employed tradespeople in this country quietly doing the maths on how many years their body has left.

The gear to change that maths exists. Drills have lost nearly a kilo in a decade. Knee protection has been transformed by materials that didn’t exist when most of us started. But all of it gets marketed either at 25-year-olds in branded hoodies or at facilities managers buying for warehouses. Nobody talks to the 52-year-old plumber buying for himself.

So that’s who this site is for.

What we believe

Who is behind it

Founder and editor

Ronnie is a marketing strategist who has spent years helping small UK service businesses get found and get booked, and who watched tradespeople in his own circle count down their knees instead of their years. Still Grafting is the site he wanted to hand them. Guides are research-led under the rules of the yard, and a test bench of working tradespeople is being recruited from the Site Notes list to put real weeks on the kit.

How the site pays for itself

Some links are affiliate links, meaning retailers like Screwfix, Toolstation and Amazon pay us a small commission when you buy through them, at no change to your price. The rules of the yard set out how we keep that honest: verdicts locked before links are added, failures reported, samples declared.
